To commemorate the "PONGAL FESTIVAL" and to give its students the essence of the rustic charm and the rich culture of the South Indian villages, The SJPS VILLAGE FEST was held on the 11th of January. The festival saw enthusiastic participation from students of classes Kg to class XII. The colorful ambience of the villages was brought to life in our campus grounds, with children ecstatically moving around clad in their traditional best. Students of class VI TO VIII presented different forms of traditional dances such as Karagattam, Tappatam, Mayilattam and Oilattam. The event was inaugurated by the Principal Mrs.Shanthi Samuel by the Uri adithal tradition. Students were also introduced to the traditional village games like Pallan kuzhi, Nondi, goli velaiyattu .Students were treated with PONGAL special dishes such as ven pongal and chakara pongal. Stalls that displayed village articrafts and traditional food varieties drew the interest of the children.
